Y2 - K.O.
What a bust! The survivalists are scratching their heads wondering what went wrong with their hyperactive predictions of chaos on the big "night".
The clocks turned over in zone after zone and the New Year's Eve celebrations went on pretty much as planned. There was a longer look back and more fireworks, but this year was a repeat of every one before it - except that some people have a lot more canned goods in their basement than they'll ever need.
It's as if we loved to be scared and pushed into a posture of frightened anticipation from every extremist's nightmarish scenario. When will we ever learn? For a nation whose motto is "In God We Trust" we sure lack faith when it really counts.
To my knowledge we have no K-rations stored up at my house, not even extra batteries. We did have the good sense, however, to end this year and begin the next by putting our lives into God's loving hands and leaving them there. Perhaps a little less panic and a little more prayer will help in "end of the world as we know it" scenarios next time around.
