Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men,

- Colossians 3:23

This is a sample of the wise teachings you will be learning this morning. Christians should be the best workers on the job. Christians should be the most disciplined students in the classroom. Everything you do, you should do it wholeheartedly. God is watching even when your teacher or your boss is not. God sees your hard work and rewards you even if others do not. Do everything you do for God.

Read

Read Colossians at this time.

Reflect

Epaphras established the church in Colossae (Colossians 1:7). Paul had never been there (Colossians 2:1), but he cared about them just the same. As you read the letter to the Colossians you may notice a simplicity in its teaching. Paul is instructing in some of the most basic teachings of our faith.

Chapter three reminds you to constantly put to death your sinful tendencies. The "old you" will keep trying to rise from the dead. Keep your old self dead. In other words, do not return to your old habits. Let Christ live through you (Colossians 3:4). On one side of the page in your notes list the sins mentioned in Colossians 3:5-9. On the other side list the qualities of God's people mentioned in Colossians 3:12-14. Which qualities do you want in your life? Take the sins out of your life and replace them with the qualities God wants you to have.
