Happy Dying

Devo by:

They say your life flashes before your eyes before you die. If it is so, this must explain why Christians die happy. David says it this way,

39But the salvation of the righteous is from the Lord;
He is their strength in time of trouble.
40The Lord helps them and delivers them;
He delivers them from the wicked and saves them,
Because they take refuge in Him.

- Psalms 37:39-40

I've seen non-believers die and what they see must frighten them because they are terribly reluctant to go. Perhaps their vision is one of all their misdeeds, neglected opportunities to do good and dismissals of Christ while alive.

The saints, on the other hand, may see a mixture of good and bad at life's last glimpse but I am persuaded that the shadow of the cross over everything must be very soothing. Those who serve Christ all their lives are served by Him at death. This is the promise of Scripture and the guarantee we bring into advanced age and illness.

Don't let the last thing you see in life be an image of lost hope and regret. Do what you need to do in order to guarantee the happy ending to your life. God promises this to all who are prepared to die long before it comes.
