The Voice of Faith

Critics often refer to the maturing of authors as the process of "finding one's voice." For example, writers who hit upon a message or theme in their books that make an impact on their readers are said to have found their "true voice."

It seems to me that Christians go through the same sort of process. At first we mimic what we see and have been taught. Most simply stay at this point, satisfied in their religious exercises and experience.

For some however, there is a constant effort to find a distinctive way, a more personal approach to serving the Lord. The search is often difficult but when rewarded this "voice of faith" has produced great spiritual dividends for those blessed with its possession.

Whether it be the ability to relate to an especially resistant group for the gospel or a unique opportunity to serve in a dynamic way, finding your own special voice of faith results in great personal satisfaction.

If your Christian life seems dry or you are in a pattern of diminishing spiritual return, perhaps the reason is not that your faith is weak or lacking. The reason may be that you have not found the voice of faith that God is trying to give you. Find that and the rewards will make the searching worth while.
