In this lesson, Paul answers a third question concerning salvation: "What does salvation give me?"
Discussion Questions
- Paul teaches that the Law's ultimate purpose was to reveal sin and lead people to seek God's mercy. How does this understanding change the way we view the Old Testament Law today?
- Paul lists six blessings that come with salvation in Christ: peace, joy, love, assurance, reconciliation, and eternal life. Which of these blessings speaks to you most personally right now, and why?
- In Romans 5, Paul contrasts Adam and Christ–Adam as the channel of sin and death, Christ as the channel of forgiveness and life. How does seeing Jesus as the "new Adam" deepen our gratitude for salvation?
- Paul concludes that "where sin increased, grace abounded all the more" (Romans 5:20). How does this truth give us confidence both in our personal walk with God and in sharing the gospel with others?
