Part 2

This section of Romans contains the reason why and the method how God's grace was revealed to sinful man.

Discussion Questions
  1. Paul explains that righteousness comes "apart from the Law" and is received through faith in Jesus (Romans 3:21-22). Why do you think it was important for both Jews and Gentiles to hear that salvation was not tied to the Law but to faith?
  2. The lesson describes how human efforts can never supply what God requires, but that God provides it as a gift of grace. How does seeing salvation as a gift–rather than something earned–change the way we approach God in daily life?
  3. Paul emphasizes that boasting is excluded because all are saved the same way: by faith. What are some ways Christians today might still be tempted to "boast" in their works or status, and how does Paul's teaching confront that attitude?
  4. The Law still has a purpose: to reveal sin and lead us to grace. How have you seen the Law (or a sense of right and wrong) serve as a "threshold" that brought you or others closer to Christ?
  5. The lesson shows different reactions people have when faced with the Law's demands–hypocrisy, slavery, discouragement, or crying out for mercy. Which of these responses do you think is most common today, and why?
