Introduction: Unorganized Religions

By: Mike Mazzalongo     Posted: November, 2020
This lesson begins our study of world religions by defining the word religion and what groups will be included. We also begin by exploring Primitive Religions.

Discussion Questions
  1. How do primitive religions, often termed "unorganized," differ in their expression and understanding of the divine compared to organized religions? What factors contribute to these differences?
  2. Considering the importance of understanding other belief systems for evangelism, as highlighted in the lesson, how can missionaries effectively balance respect for indigenous religions while sharing the Christian faith? What challenges might arise in this process?
  3. This chapter defines religion as "man's expression of his acknowledgement of the divine." How does this definition encompass or exclude various belief systems, such as atheism or secular humanism? Should these be considered religions under this definition? Why or why not?
