In this two part lesson Mike will discuss the Biblical profile of the man who is qualified to serve as Deacon and the nature of his work as well as the limit of his authority.

  1. What is the meaning of the word deacon as transliterated from Greek and what is the significance of this designation?
  2. What is your perception of the role of deacons?
  3. Read Acts 6:1-6 and answer the following questions:
    1. Summarize the appointment of the men in Acts 6:16 including why they were needed?
    2. Has the role of deacons changed from this initial need and if so, how?
  4. How is the charge for all to serve different than someone specified to serve as a deacon?
  5. How can you use this lesson to grow spiritually and help others come into a relationship with Jesus?
