Back to School

With the big day soon upon us I offer a few reminders to parents and kids to help get us started on the right foot:

Parents: You are the primary teachers

Even though the schools provide instruction in the Sciences and Arts, you remain the primary teachers and most influential figures. Moses reminded parents to, "…teach your sons." Deuteronomy 1:18

School reflects the society we live in, parents reflect how we are to live in that society. School teaches a child how to be useful as a person but parents need to remember that they are the ones responsible for teaching their children who they are and where they are going.

Kids: You are Christ at school

Everything you learn at church doesn't serve you or anyone else if it doesn't show itself at school. Jesus said,

everyone who confesses Me before men, the Son of Man shall confess him also before the angels of God.
- Luke 12:8

Only Christian kids can bring Christ to school and if we don't bring Him there with our words and attitude, it doesn't matter what we do or say at church.

Finally, I encourage each family to take a moment before classes actually begin and pray for God's blessings on each other as parents and students, teachers and staff so we can all experience a great school year.
