A Period of Rebellion Against God
Others have been with those who rebel against the light; They do not want to know its ways Nor abide in its paths.
- Job 24:13
Have you ever been with those who rebel against the light? Have you gone through a period of rebellion yourself? It's not that unusual go through a time when we feel less like doing what God wants and more like doing what we want. The desire for sin grows stronger than the desire to please God.
Some lose vision for what God can do through a committed soul and they walk away. Others seek a more naturalistic explanation to life's questions, doubting the intervention of a Divine Being. This happens frequently when a person moves away from home for the first time. At some point we all have to find God ourselves. When we do, His Word promises,
You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.
- Jeremiah 29:13
The problem is we face times in our lives when we don't feel like seeking Him or we see no benefit in continuing to seek Him. We rebel. We push God to the side in favor of You fill in the blank .
On Sundays, we serve God by choice. We assemble as Christians to remind each other that we have made the commitment to serve our Heavenly Father without reservation. What's great about worship is we bring strength to each other knowing we do not serve God all by ourselves.
Elijah, the prophet of God, was once discouraged believing he was the only one left who had not given into the temptations of pagan worship. God told him, "Yet I will leave 7,000 in Israel, all the knees that have not bowed to Baal and every mouth that has not kissed him." (I Kings 19:18). When Satan puts that doubt in your mind and you start believing you are the only one who fears God and desires to serve Him, look around. There are others.
